Homeschooling your kids doesn't have to cost a small fortune. It can actually be done very affordably. Keep reading to hear about some of the free and low-cost resources available to homeschooling families.
Free
The library- Your local public library is an amazing resource. In addition to books, many libraries offer free classes, story and craft time for kids, and some even have things like museum or zoo passes that you can check out.
Easy Peasy All-In-One Homeschool- Easy Peasy is a free complete curriculum for preschool through 12th grade. Check it out here.
Kahn Academy- Kahn Academy and Kahn Academy Kids offer free online math, language arts, and science curriculum. Learn more about it here.
The Good and the Beautiful- The Good and the Beautiful offers free Christian based language arts, math, and science resources that you can find here. They also have a full curriculum available that is not free, but is fairly reasonably priced.
Ambleside Online- Ambleside Online is a free Charlotte Mason based curriculum for grades K-12. You can access it here.
YouTube- YouTube is one of my favorite free educational resources. Just be sure to preview all videos before showing them to your kids, as there is some content that is not appropriate for children.

Smithsonian Learning Lab- The Smithsonian Learning Lab offers collections of science, social studies, and art resources. Check it out here here.
Duolingo- Duolingo is a free website that offers lessons in 30+ different languages. You can access it here.
Aubodon for Kids- The National Audubon Society has a whole section of their website that is specifically for kids. It has kid friendly information about different types of birds, bird themed games and activities, art tutorials, vocabulary words, science project ideas, and more! Check it out here.
Ducksters- Ducksters is an educational website that provides free information and online quizzes on a variety of history, science, and geography topics. You can check out their website here.
Teachers Pay Teachers- Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace that offers both free and low cost educational resources such as printables, lesson plans, unit studies, curriculum, and more that are made by other educators. You can access it here.

Low-Cost
Thriftbooks- Thriftbooks is an online used bookstore. They have millions of titles to choose from. And you can even sell your books back to them after reading them! Check their website out here.
Used Textbooks and Curriculum- Using used curriculum and textbooks can save you a lot of money. Check sites like thriftbooks for used textbooks and workbooks. Facebook has lots of used curriculum groups. You can also check local homeschool groups for curriculum swaps.
Blossom and Root- Blossom and Root offers preschool and elementary curriculum that is Charlotte Mason and Waldorf inspired. I especially love their science curriculum. Learn more about it here.
FunSchooling Journals and Other Thinking Tree Resources- Thinking Tree offers a collection of journals and workbooks on a variety of topics. They work well with a variety of homeschool methods. Check them out here.
StarFall- Starfall is a learning app/website for preschool through 3rd grade. It has phonics instruction, math activities and games, and other educational activities. It currently costs $35 a year, or there is a lite version available for free. Learn more here.
ABC Mouse- ABC Mouse is an app designed for kids 2-8 years old. It offers learning games, puzzles, and videos to help children with math, reading, science, and more. Check it out here.
Reading IQ- Reading IQ is an online library. Membership currently costs $7.99 a month. Learn more about it here.
